Joe. My. God.: PHOENIX: Man Stabbed To Death During Grindr Hook-Up With Local 19 Year-old

Joe. My. God.: PHOENIX: Man Stabbed To Death During Grindr Hook-Up With Local 19 Year-old:

"Phoenix police say 54 year-old Mark Woodland was brutally murdered on Sunday by 19 year-old Tommy Reed when the two hooked-up after meeting on Grindr. This is the second Grindr-related crime reported in as many days."

We all know that anything can happen - regardless of whether you meet someone volunteering at your local charity, in a bar on a Saturday night, or on line (or in this case, on the phone!). There was a story yesterday on the Today show about these women who sidle up to well-off looking men in bars, drug them and take them to the cleaners, taking expensive jewelery, credit cards, etc., so it's clear that these types of behaviors are not limited to men or event to gay men as some will surely try to imply. It reminds me of that story from a few years ago about a guy who got acid poured on his dick through a glory hole, and the police officer investigating the matter at the time said something to the effect of "if you're going to stick your junk into a hole, not knowing what's on the other side, you're bound to get some nasty surprises." So it sorta makes you wonder, are the creeps out there anyway and these devices (gloryholes, anonymous hookups, grindr, etc.) simply giving them an outlet to exercise their creep-ness, or does the existence of these venues help foster a new generation of creeps to - under the shroud of mystery and anonymity - do what in other cases they would never attempt?

Just thinking out loud...
